Creating the blog was easy. I wonder how hard it would be to find more style templates or to fiddle with the several that are available in order to personalize them a bit more. Maybe I'll look around... but as at least one other person has said, time is an issue here.
The avatar thing is a little silly, but as Patty points out, the exercise teaches us how to save and insert code. It also forced me to figure out how to get it onto the blog when the instructions seemed to be different from what I actually saw on the page. And it's one more thing that might be applicable in another way somewhere down the line. Who knows?
Next up, Flickr. I've heard of it, but I've never been to the web site. I imagine sites for the masses like these are fairly dummy-proof. I'm about to put that to the test.

Week 1, Thing 1 and Thing 2
So we need to be "up to date with the latest trends." OK. Here I am... me and my goofy avatar.
The key to this whole thing will be finding ways to make all this useful. That technology makes many things possible... doesn't necessarily mean that it's anything more than bells and whistles (see "avatar") or even distractions (see the A-V presentation of the 7 1/2 Habits).
What I'm looking forward to are the ideas we all generate that will help move us along the road toward using what's available in a sensible and appropriate way. It might even be fun!
